Pedestrian hit by car in Montpellier carpark dies

France 3/Scoop, May 7

A pedestrian who was mown down by a car in the carpark at the Place de la Comédie in Montpellier has died in hospital.

On Saturday morning at dawn, CCTV recorded two people in a car hitting a pedestrian. The driver and his passenger fled in the car, and then tried to burn it, according to police. Witnesses saw what happened, although the two in the car are still denying that they knew they had hit a pedestrian. Their account doesn’t match the CCTV video.

The two were under the influence of alcohol, and were placed in custody to sober up.

The victim was taken to hospital immediately, but on Monday he sadly succumbed to his injuries.
