Perpignan baby put in tumble dryer “for fun”

MidiLibre/Scoop, May 23

An incident happened in March last year, which has only just come to court.

On March 11 2017, a couple with a 14 month old baby went into a Landromat in Perpignan to rest on the seats for a while.

The father put the baby into a tumble dryer, closed the door, and spun the drum around by hand a few times. He claimed he wanted to have ‘a bit of fun’.

On their return to the home where the mother lives, a nurse noticed red marks and bruising on the baby, and reported the couple.

In court yesterday, the father was sentenced to three years in prison for violence against a minor, and the mother was sentenced to one year, for failing to prevent the violent act.
