Police officer blinds student in demonstration

France 3/Scoop, Dec 18

A 16 year old Béziers high school student has lost his eye after being shot in the face by a police officer during demonstrations on Thursday 6 December.

The student, Jean-Philippe was demonstrating in front of the Jean-Moulin school in Béziers, when he was wounded by a rubber bullet. Serge Lafitte, Jean-Philippe’s father is calling for witnesses to prove what happened during the demonstration of 300 students.

"The police used tear gas and were armed with rubber bullets. The legislation is clear, it is necessary that the police be in a state of legitimate defence. I do not see how a kid 30 metres away was able to attack the policeman who fired, and I’m just waiting for justice to be done, “ explained Serge Lafitte.
