Protests in Toulouse to close abattoirs

MidiLibre/Scoop, Jun 3

Hundreds of people gathered in Toulouse on Saturday to demand the closure of abattoirs.

Among the protesters wearing red t-shirts proclaiming “Let's close the slaughterhouses" was the whistleblower Mauricio Garcia Pereira, who in late 2016 denounced the practices of the abattoir in Limoges.

According to the organisers, the 7th edition of the event in Toulouse, "has gathered more people than last year", a sign of the awakening of consciences to animal suffering, they said.

During a speech, they also invited their activists to attend the next demonstration organised for Paris on 23 June.
