Remembering the Nîmes flood 30 years ago
On October 3, 1988, Nîmes was hit by a deadly flood. The Gard capital was devastated by thousands of cubic metres of water and mud.
The floods killed nine people, destoyed 2,000 homes, and affected 50,000 residents.
Damage at the time was estimated to be four billion francs, which in euros is a staggering 609,796,068€
