Renato, victim of Radouane Lakdim, goes home
A month after the shooting at Carcassonne and the attack in the Super U at Trèbes, Renato has left Perpignan hospital where he has been since he was shot.
The 26-year-old Portuguese resident of Villemoustaussou in the Aude was the first victim of Lakdim, the jihadist killed on March 23 this year.
On that fateful day, Renato was driving a vehicle in Carcassonne with a passenger by his side when the terrorist Radouane Lakdim fired at them. Renato was seriously injured, and his passenger, Jean Mazières, a retired winemaker, was killed. Radouane Lakdim then stole their vehicle and headed for the supermarket at Trèbes.
It is somewhat of a miracle that he is home. He was shot in the head and is recovering very well, since coming out of a forced coma in early April. Doctors had to perform a tricky operation to remove the bullet from his head.
