Residents of Gardouch clean the Canal du Midi

France 3/Scoop, Oct 21

The inhabitants of Gardouch, Haute Garonne, are sick of waiting for the public authorities. The town was hit by a mudslide last July, and facing the inertia of public authorities, they have taken on the job of cleaning the Canal du Midi themselves.

On Saturday morning, equipped with buckets and spades, they got to work. Forming a human chain, they managed to clear out the blockages in the three arches of the bridge. The water is now flowing freely.

Bravo to the residents!
