Roadside fruit and veg sellers under union attack

France 3/Scoop, Jul 16

Agricultural unions are protesting about the number of roadside sellers of fruit and veg in the Hérault.

Unions say that they are threatening the local producers.

In the summer, it’s very common to see road side vendors of fruit and veg. Most people assume that they are local small holdings, looking to eke out a living.

However, the unions are denouncing the lack of transparency of where the produce is from, and they point to hygiene issues too. A spokesperson from La coordination rurale, one of the largest agricultural unions in the region, said that more controls are necessary.
