Rodez using sheep as grass cutters in the city

France 3/Scoop, Jun 18

Visitors and residents were surprised this weekend, to see sheep in the city. The city council decided to hire the sheep from local farms to maintain the green spaces.

In total, 80 hectares of greenery will be 'mowed' by the sheep. Before they arrived at the areas to maintain, they were paraded in the streets, causing traffic jams.

The technique of offering an alternative to mechanical maintenance is becoming more and more popular. It is far less expensive and above all more beneficial for the environment.

The initiative was carried out in partnership with Rodez’ Agricampus La Roque.
