Seventh student drowning in Toulouse canal
On Friday, March 2, the lifeless body of a young man was found floating on the Canal du Midi, at the Guilheméry bridge.
The autopsy performed by the Rangueil forensic institute showed that there were no suspicious details, and the conclusion was that he died by drowning.
The young law student in Toulouse had spent the evening in a bar in the city centre before falling into the canal.
He is at least the seventh accidental drowning victim in 3 years.
As Christophe Vidal, president of the Toulouse Nocturne association, confided, "Raising awareness and educating young people about the risks linked to excessive alcohol consumption would limit these accidents".
Each year Toulouse welcomes 125,000 students, the 15/29 age group is the most vulnerable.
