100 masterpieces from Dürer, Rembrandt, Goya, Degas ...
For the first time in France, the Musée de Lodève presents an exceptional collection of engravings belonging to the Fondation William Cuendet & Atelier de Saint Prex.
The exhibition will showcase some hundred masterpieces from the 15th to the 21st century: Rembrandt, Dürer, Canaletto, Corot, Goya, Degas, Morandi, Bonnard, Vuillard ... as well as creations by more recent artists.
The thematic approach of the exhibition reflects the double life of engraving. On the one hand, its close link with the development of the book and its contribution to the expansion of knowledge. On the other, its pure artistic dimension with landscapes, portraits.
The exhibition also offers an almost complete history of all engraving techniques, from the oldest to the most recent.
