The first bathers of the year in Frontignan

France 3/Scoop, Jan 8

Several dozen bathers threw themselves into the water this Sunday in Frontignan, for the first swimming event of the year.

It took a little courage for the dozens of swimmers in January to throw themselves into the water. The first ‘bain’ of the year took place on the beach at Frontignan, Hérault, and at other places on the coast.

Temperatures were cool, 8 degrees outside and 14 in the water, but a bit milder than the day before.

This event, which takes place everywhere on the beaches of France in the month of January, normally attracts a crowd of curious on-lookers, who prefer to stay dry.
