“Tontons Flingueurs” statues stolen from Montauban

France 3/Scoop, Jul 2

In 2014 Montauban council installed four figurines on a roundabout to celebrate the film “On ne devrait jamais quitter Montauban” by Georges Lautner.

During the weekend two of these “Tontons Flingueurs” were stolen from the roundabout. The plexiglass silhouettes were literally ripped off their stands. The mayor said “we do not know if this is a lover of French cinema, a fan of the film by Georges Lautner but video surveillance cameras will hopefully identify the thief”.
