Tourists trapped overnight in Padirac Cave

LanguedocLiving, Aug 7

Three Spanish tourists got trapped in Padirac Cave, Lot, on Sunday.

The tourists didn’t hear the staff announcing that the cave was about to close, because they were using a new audio guide system. When they realised that the staircase and lift had been closed, they called out for help, but all the staff had gone home.

The tourists had no choice but to spend the night in the cave.

When staff arrived on Monday morning, they found the unhappy tourists. The three tourists have decided to press charges.

Padirac, France’s most popular underground site, receives 470,000 visitors a year. Hopefully they will be changing their system to account for all visitors, after this unfortunate mistake.
