Trains delayed for hours on Wednesday
There were major delays at train stations in the region after an electrical incident on Wednesday.
An incident on the power supply between Montpellier and Sète stopped all traffic on the Mediterranean axis. Traffic resumed slowly in the middle of the afternoon, but delays still remain.
The breakdown may not be directly related to heavy rainfall, but little information is available.
In Nîmes, Montpellier and Béziers, delays of several hours were announced in the middle of the afternoon on Wednesday. To add to the chaos, trains were running on a single line between Carcassonne and Narbonne due to work being carried out.
“Our teams are hard at work to quickly restore traffic on all routes and to reorganise traffic in order to impact users as little as possible," said an SNCF spokesperson.
