Two men shot in Fleury-d’Aude

France 3/Scoop, Nov 16

Shots were fired on Wednesday evening at around 7pm in a bistro in Fleury-d’Aude, Aude

Roger Servant, 70, and Jean-Yves Bilbe, 48, had a violent altercation. After a few minutes, Roger Servant shot Jean-Yves Bilbe in front of his home before killing himself.

Residents of Fleury-d'Aude are in shock.

Both inhabitants were well known in the village. Jean-Yves Bilbe was the manager of the Fleury-d’Aude bistro and stood out as a rugby player for Racing Clape Plage. As for Roger Servant, he was also known for his strong character and his participation in local and community life.

Belonging to two different hunting groups, the two knew each other and quarrelled regularly.

Attorney David Charmatz says that for the moment, the origin of the dispute is "still unknown". A judicial inquiry is in progress.
