Uber car drives British passengers into sea

LanguedocLiving, Aug 19

British tourists Nick Christoforou and his colleague Sophia Toon took an Uber taxi in Cannes, and during the trip the taxi driver drove off the end of a jetty in Port Pierre Canto.

The car sunk slowly into a three metre deep area of water, and had it not been for the quick reactions of Mr Christoforou, the three people in the car would have drowned. Mr. Christoforou managed to get a door open, the three people swam out of the car and got to the surface in time.

The driver was breathalysed at the scene and found to be sober, reports said; although he no longer works for Uber.

Later, the passengers were astonished to have been charged €20 for the journey.
