Violent attack in Montpellier for defending his son

MidiLibre/Scoop, Sep 13

News is emerging of three people who were brutally attacked by a group of youths in Montpellier, just before the weekend.

A father of a student at Joffre High School confronted a group of people having heard that they had attacked his son.

On Friday at around 8:45 the father arrived at the esplanade Charles-de-Gaulle in Montpellier with his son and his brother.

“I did not expect that at all when we saw the young people in question, we went to the Esplanade, they ran away, and then about fifteen people arrived. They had bottles, stones, studded boards, knives … they were properly organised.” said the father, one of the victims of the attack.

The three were brutally attacked, and ended up in A&E with cuts, bruises and stab wounds.

This Sunday, the young man suspected of being the one with the knife was arrested. The father has decided to enrol his son in a different school. He said “the Esplanade is more dangerous than La Paillade, if the gangs continue, there will be a tragedy."
