Wind turbine loses blade in high winds
In Dio-et-Valquières, Hérault, the blade of a wind turbine broke in strong winds during April, it is only just being reported.
The blade is several hundred kilos, and it broke in two during a hailstorm with gusts between 120km/h - 150km/h.
The wind farm at Dio-et-Valquières, between Bédarieux and Lodève, has seven turbines.
The damaged wind turbine will be difficult to repair because it is an older Spanish model, which is no longer produced. This machine, like the 6 others, was commissioned and put into production in March 2006.
The wind farm is managed by Holding Dio Energie, which is part of a group based in Decazeville, Aveyron. The maintenance of the site is by Alstom energy.
