Good news for moviegoers in the Pyrénées-Orientales. A new cinema with three halls, and a capacity of 300 people has just opened in Canet-en-Roussillon. Highly anticipated by the residents, the company Lyre Cinémas opened its sixth cinema in France.
Lyre Cinemas launched in 2011 with a first cinema in Leucate. 8 years later, they have opened their sixth establishment in Canet-en-Roussillon. The cost of the operation was 2.6 million euros.
“Everything has to be perfect, the quality of the sound and the image, the comfort, we are ready and I am surrounded by a good team of professionals”, said Jérôme Quaretti, director of the cinema “Clap ciné”.
The target attendance is 80,000 visitors per year. Canet has 12,000 inhabitants year-round, but the population triples during the summer.
A fourth hall will open in 2020 to achieve a total capacity of 500 seats.
