It was yet another violent Saturday, as Act 15 of the gilets jaunes demonstrations played out in the region.
The early afternoon started out peacefully in Montpellier, but it soon turned violent as thugs smashed the windows and the doors of a McDonald’s restaurant in the Place de la Comédie.
The group clearly came out with the intention of violence, unless one of them just happened to have a hammer in his pocket. 4,000 demonstrators took to the streets in Montpellier.
In Toulouse there were several thousand demonstrators, and the afternoon was calm until 6pm, when clashes between police and protesters began on the Place du Capitole. Molotov cocktails were thrown at the police, and shop fronts were damaged. Four people were arrested.
In total there were 46,600 gilets jaunes demonstrators on Saturday, an increase of 5,000 from last week’s Act 14.
