Sadly, the body of Aymery, the autistic child from the Gard who was missing, was found in a water hole in Aigues-Vives at 9am on Tuesday morning.
Police made the macabre discovery of Aymery, the boy who had disappeard from the family home on Sunday near Nîmes.
On Monday, searches had been carried out on a radius of two kilometres between a railway line and the national road 113 in the Ganges district. In the afternoon, more than 200 people participated in the search.
The sniffer dogs directed the military to a quarry near the family home. Four divers inspected the three small water holes at the site on Monday, but without success.
Dozens of people carried on with the search overnight. When the search with the divers resumed on Tuesday morning, the dead body of the little boy was found in a water hole, the Gard police announced.
An autopsy was due to be carried out on Tuesday.
