British family gassed in their camper van in France

A British family were on their way home after a holiday in Spain and France, when they stopped at Antran, just north of Poitiers for the night.  They parked up at a service station to get a night’s sleep before the final leg home.

During the night thieves pumped gas into their camper van, knocking out the two adults and three children.

Thieves left with their passports, money, and a designer handbag.

Stolen passports are worth around €3,000 each on the black market.

The general advice is never to use motorway aires or service stations to park up and spend the night.  They are not secure, and it’s easy for thieves to make a fast and anonymous get-away.
