Canicule keeps the gilets jaunes numbers down

The number of gilets jaunes who took to the street to protest on Saturday was down, largely due to the extreme temperatures which broke records on Friday and Saturday.

Many of the demonstrators kept cool with water guns to deal with the heat.

“We can no longer mobilise because the TV does not speak about us anymore, but there are also the fines we are charged every Saturday, we must pay €135,” said a protester in Paris.

Only between 100 and 200 people took to the streets in Toulouse in near 40 degree heat, and the numbers were similar in Montpellier.
