Capestang fish are starved of oxygen due to the heat

Thousands of dead fish float to the surface in Capestang etang

Since the beginning of the summer, hundreds of kilos of dead fish have been found in the etangs, and the Canal du Midi all across the region.

It’s due to the heat we are experiencing, which warms up the water and deprives the fish of oxygen.

There isn’t enough oxygen

Fish near Capestang, Hérault, have been the latest victims, when thousands of fish floated to the top of the Capestang etang last week, starved of oxygen due to the high temperature of the water.

In July, authorities were involved to remove 200 kg of dead fish out of the Canal du Midi.
