The city of Collioure has more than 1,000 years of history. It is a unique site and a source of inspiration for painters. But we often forget that it is the anchovies that have made the reputation and fortune of this beautiful Catalan port.
Anchovies have been fished for centuries in Collioure. From the late nineteenth century, the salting of this little fish made Collioure’s reputation and wealth.
This past weekend, several thousand people came to Collioure, for the anchovy festival and to enjoy the charm of the seaside town on the Côte Vermeille.
