Each year, there are more and more visitors to the truffle market at Collioure.
Held two days before Christmas, the market only lasted 10 minutes before all the truffles were snapped up.
Many were buying it to grate over their Christmas chapon, but it freezes well, so it can be enjoyed all through the year.
At €1,200 a kilo, the truffles are three times more expensive than silver.
This year the harvest is a bit late because of the very mild temperatures, and in the Pyrenees-Orientales producers are only expecting to harvest 30 kilos in total.
