Coronavirus has arrived in Occitanie


A man has been diagnosed as having Coronavirus in Montpellier.  The patient is being treated in hospital, and his family are in quarantine under observation.

In recent weeks, several suspected cases have been identified in Occitanie but until now, none have been confirmed.

Three suspected cases of Coronavirus were identified in Aveyron and Haute Garonne, but it was announced on Thursday that doctors had ruled out Covid-19.  Test results for the three patients from Millau, Rodez and Toulouse were all negative.

Meanwhile, two school students in Pézenas, Hérault have been put into quarantine this week.

10 police officers quarantined

Police officers from Perpignan picked up three men from Nepal yesterday, who were travelling without papers.  They were also displaying signs of the virus.  The 10 police officers who had been in contact with them were immediately confined, pending tests on the three men who had been arrested.

Tests proved negative, and the police officers were allowed to leave their confines after five hours.
