From Royal Wedding to Royal Opera House

An International Musical Spectacular Comes to Capestang

Sue Jones, a former professional dancer who has performed with musical icons such as Jimi Hendrix and Johnny Hallyday, is organising her second musical extravaganza to raise funds for the charity the “Ligue Contre le Cancer.”

The concert is to be held in Capestang on Saturday August 11th.

Through Sue’s professional contacts she is able to persuade world-class artists to give of their time and talents freely to this very worthwhile cancer charity. She says, “Many of us have friends or family members who have been touched by this horrendous disease and therefore we all need to do whatever we can to help eradicate it.”

The variety of musical styles performing during the concert will be from jazz, through musical theatre and dance, to opera. It will include:

Magic of the Musicals Singers

An ensemble of vocalists led by tenor Lawrence Kilsby will be performing songs from popular musical theatre, from Andrew Lloyd-Webber’s smash hit shows to old favourites such as West Side Story, My Fair Lady and Oklahoma.

A World Premiere

“We are thrilled that dancers from the Grammy nominated Sisters Grimm production company will be performing excerpts from their exciting new contemporary ballet, The Enchantress,” says Sue Jones. This will be its world premiere. “Sisters Grimm perform all over the world but to see them performing here in the Languedoc will be a fantastic once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”

A Royal Wedding Scoop

For those of us not invited to the wedding of Prince Harry to Meghan Markle (now the Duke and Duchess of Sussex) you will be able to hear in person, Nicholas Pierce, a senior chorister from Saint George’s Choir School in Windsor, perform some of the same works that he sang during the recent wedding in Windsor.

In addition, Jason Richards, who played the organ during the wedding, will be showing his many talents by performing jazz piano.

And Finally

The superb finale will be led by Dame Sarah Connolly, a mezzo-soprano who has performed at many of the world’s leading opera houses, including the Metropolitan in New York; in San Francisco and in New York as well at La Scala, Milan; the Opéra National de Paris; in Brussels, Florence, Barcelona and The Netherlands. Dame Sarah will be joined by members of the Magic of the Musicals singers.

Sue Jones adds, “I am thrilled that busy professionals, as well as some very talented amateurs, have so generously agreed to perform and support us – and hope that you will support both them and this worthwhile charity.

“We sold out at our last concert. So that you do not miss the opportunity of seeing these amazing artists perform locally, please order your tickets now. Thank you very much.”
