A Montpellier man was arrested for carrying out several scams on le Bon Coin. In total he has defrauded private car sellers to the amount of €130,000 since 2019.
At just 22, the suspect already has at least sixteen victims to his credit. The Montpellier resident was arrested in Nancy on 5 March. He is suspected of having defrauded people throughout France (including three in Montpellier, one in Béziers, and another in Agde) between September and December 2019.
The accused used an elaborate technique to buy vehicles from private individuals, on Le Bon Coin. Cars were paid for with cheques that would later bounce.
Charged for fraud, the suspect was placed in pre-trial detention.
