Midi CC, the only active cricket club in the Hérault, will launch their autumn campaign this weekend with two friendly matches against a touring side from the UK at their home ground in Pouzolles.
They play Clapham-in-cricket this Saturday, 21 September (start 11am) and on Sunday, 22 September (start 12 midday) and will be offering a free first drink (wine, beer or soft drink) to any spectators.
Midi had an indifferent league season before the summer break. After starting with a hat-trick of wins and topping the table in the southern pool of the Blevins Franks ACCSO South West Regional League, cancelled matches thanks to both extreme heat and forecast rain and forfeited games through lack of players saw them finish second from bottom of the league table.
Captain Dom George is keen to make amends with victories in the friendly matches against Clapham, Greystones from Ireland on 28 September and the Andorran national side over the weekend of 19 and 20 October.
He has also made an appeal to anyone who has played cricket and is keen to take part to contact him on firstname.lastname@example.org
The only obstacle for the encounter against Clapham could be the weather with rain forecast for both Saturday and Sunday.
The exact location of the ground can be found on the midicricket.com website under Contact Us on the home page. There will be directional signs at the first roundabout coming from Roujan.
