Mushroom hunters fined

Two friends from Le Tech, Pyrénées Orientales, decided that it was acceptable to go mushroom hunting during the confinement.  The two men, aged 38 and 40, were crossing a dam via a bridge, and one of them slipped, and fell off the bridge.  He had a suspected broken leg from his five metre fall, and he had to be airlifted out.

A CRS team from Bolquère, specialising in mountain rescue, an emergency doctor from SMUR, firefighters and gendarmes were mobilised to rescue him and evacuate him with the Dragon 66 civil security helicopter to Ceret, and then by ambulance to the sector clinic.

They both had to pay a fine of €135 for non-compliance, and the police have announced that controls will be reinforced in Haut-Vallespir “to put an end to this irresponsible attitude”.
