Rains on Tuesday brought the red Sahara sand out of the clouds and coated Occitanie.
Since this Sunday, the Sirocco wind has blown sand in our direction, and the rains have fallen on several Occitanie departments. As a a result, a thin layer of sand covered cars, roofs and roads over much of Occitanie.
Roland Mazurie of Météo France explained that this can happen regularly, but we noticed it more this time because it hasn’t rained for such a long time, so there’s a high density of sand in the rains.
We can expect more sand over the following days, but Mazurie assures us that the worst is over.
