Drug runners drove through a road-block at 2 am on Wednesday morning at a police border control at Le Boulou. The vehicle was later recovered with 640 kg of cannabis resin inside. The traffickers had already left the scene.
At about 2 am, the border police (PAF) decided to carry out a check at Le Boulou and asked the driver of a BMW X5 to stop.
The man suddenly accelerated, and managed to nudge the police cars out of his way.
The police gave chase. About a quarter of an hour later, they discovered the trafficker’s abandoned vehicle at a rest area near Perpignan. Inside, the police found 640 kg of cannabis resin.
Forensic officers were immediately called to the scene to gather evidence.
