Two new deaths from coronavirus in Haute-Garonne and the Pyrénées-Orientales

Illegal rave in Lozère - France 3

The latest assessment of the Occitanie ARS (regional health agency), is not encouraging. It reports two new deaths and 279 new infections per day.

As of August 21, in fact, two new deaths were recorded, in the departments of Haute-Garonne and the Pyrénées-Orientales, and 279 new contaminations per day throughout Occitanie.

In recent weeks, the virus has progressed rapidly. This is particularly true in the departments where the population is larger and younger, according to the ARS d’Occitanie. In the lead, Hérault and Haute-Garonne, not surprisingly. Following in the footsteps of Toulouse, Montpellier has decided to generalise the wearing of a mask throughout its metropolitan area.

Another trend that is that young people (20-29 years) are the most affected by these new contaminations, but the progression is observed in all age groups.

Illegal August raves have still continued, despite attempts by authorities to ban them.  The raves are being blamed for the spike in coronavirus in young people.
