Two young bears were filmed playing in the snow, on the Catalan side of the Pyrenees.
The film (below) is good quality, which is unusual as most films of bears are taken at night with the automatic surveillance cameras.
Since the hibernation period ended, bears are now active in the Pyrenees. In this video, published by the Piros Life, we see two bears, whose age is estimated at 3 or 4 years old and who could be brothers, playing in the fresh snow that fell on the massif at the end of April . Both bears are in good health.
The exact location of the video was not revealed by Piros Life. A few days ago, the revelation of the location (in the Hautes-Pyrénées), of Sorita and her two cubs, the Slovenian bear reintroduced in Béarn last autumn, sparked a controversy, because the bear protection association believed this would endanger the family.
There are over 40 bears in the Pyrenees, and sheep breeders are on their guard now that the hibernation period has come to an end.
