Laurent Jalabert from the Tarn has been crowned Ironman world champion 70.3 in Nice, for his age category 50-54 years old.  The former professional cyclist did 1.9 km of swimming, 90 km of cycling and a half-marathon (21.1 km) in 4 hours, 34 minutes and 55 seconds.

There was an incident at Béziers / Cap d’Agde airport during Sunday.  12 civil security planes were mobilized to fight against the fire at Loupian, near Sète.  One of the plane’s landing gear collapsed on the runway, and the planes were grounded.  Despite the incident which occurred on Sunday evening, Beziers / Cap d’Agde airport remained open. “The incident took place in the Pelicandrome area after the refuelling, which does not interfere with the traffic flow.  Today we are providing the four scheduled flights and the first flight of this morning was no problem.”, explained the director of the airport, Pascal Pintre.
