Who’s right – the parents or the school?

Alice’s parents are up in arms about school clothing rules. Alice, four years old, likes to wear skirts and dresses, but school officials say that she needs to wear trousers, shorts or leggings during some sporting activities.

After a complaint by the parents, the school directors from Catholic school Saint-Joseph in Bessières near Toulouse, compromised and said that she could wear leggings under her skirt.

The parents steadfastly refused, according to Dépêche du Midi, and they have moved Alice to another school.

Furious, the parents are now seeking a lawyer, and want to take the school to court for enforcing ‘unreasonable rules’ for clothing.

[It sounds perfectly reasonable to want to prevent 4 year old girls showing off their underwear during sporting activities, no…? Ed]
