Storm “Gloria” is heading up from Spain to Occitanie on Monday evening / Tuesday morning.
“Exceptionally” heavy rainfall is expected, and in some areas heavy snowfall is due. The very strong winds which are also due will make the temperatures feel icy cold.
Météo France have issued an snow orange alert for the Pyrénées-Orientales. With more than 300mm of snow due to fall in the mountainous areas, the weather forecaster states that there is a “strong risk of snow avalanches.”
Floods are expected in the Aude, and the southwestern coast will be hit by 100km/h winds, causing swells and waves of up to seven metres.
The peak intensity of the Gloria storm will be between Tuesday and Wednesday.
