Work will start on Monday at Toulouse-Blagnac airport.
The aim is to offer passengers the services of a more modern international airport with the creation of a large area dedicated to shops and restaurants.
It’s a major phase of work at Toulouse-Blagnac airport, the project of the new shareholder Casil Europe.
Several phases are planned, including the creation of a large commercial area of ??4000 m2 for a large number of shops and restaurants, due to complete in the spring of 2018.
“A place dedicated to shopping and dining, with comfortable facilities for passengers waiting for their planes.”
This development will be supported by the creation of a 4-star hotel directly connected to one of the airport’s halls. It will include 148 rooms and 1000 m2 of meeting, conference and seminar space.
Single control point
Blagnac will have a single point of entry for boarding in 2018. The biggest hall D will accommodate all control points. All passengers will travel through this area where 12 fast-flow control lines with new generation equipment will be installed. The challenge is to improve the efficiency of baggage and passenger checks. The cost of the operation is €20 million.
The other flagship project is to create a place for embarkation / disembarkation on foot, dedicated to low cost airlines and regional flights. The 2500 m2 jetty will have five boarding gates. They will allow direct access to the tarmac and allow passengers to reach the planes on foot. The opening is planned for April 2018.
The projection is to get to 12 million annual passengers in 2018.
